Boy Scout Troop 53 is happy to call White Oak Baptist Church in Red Bank, Tenn. our home.
We are an active troop with weekly troop meetings on Monday nights. Once each month we are off
into the woods somewhere, hiking, backpacking, trying to stay dry or warm. We participate in a
week long summer camp each year. In addition we sometimes plan day outings.
We hope you enjoy our troop web site. The look and design of the site will

Where does the time go? 2008 is already 1/3 of the way through and it seems like it was it has been 4 months since it was January. Time flies when you are having fun and even when you're not.
It is now May, April went by like a storm, of which there were several. The troop went camping at the Chickamauga Battlefield in April. When we left on Friday evening the weather forecast was for 20% chance of rain Friday night and early Saturday morning. We took our bicycles to do some riding. Saturday morning we woke up to rain. Needless to say, it rained all day on Saturday, actually it poured like a monsoon. We had several first time campers and it did not provide a real good camping experience. However on a positive note, they are all still with the troop.
Plans are to go on a backpacking outing this month. With limited adult help and first time campers it will be a shake down trip. We plan to go to the farm in Decatur TN, park the vehicles and pack up to the top of the hill. We can pretend it is a real backpacking trip. It will be designed to let us know how the boys will take to packing. There is a pond on the farm that has some fish. We may take the fishing poles and do a little fishing while we are there.
We are gearing up for summer camp. All of the payments have been made and all we need to do is get the scouts prepared for a week of camping and fun. The older scouts will participate in the High Adventure program. The younger scouts will participate in the Polaris program. We look forward to having a great time this summer. Summer camp is only two months away and we need a lot of preparation.
